Travel Planning

We know many of you will be traveling from abroad, and we can’t thank you enough for making the trip to celebrate with us! Below is some practical information to help with early planning.

The Venue

Both the ceremony and reception will be held at Tenuta Serego Alighieri, a wine estate in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella just outside Verona. All of the events will take place on the property, so once you arrive, you won’t need to go anywhere else. The estate has been owned by the Alighieri family (yes, that Dante) since the 1300s and is surrounded by vineyards and stone buildings that feel very much part of the landscape. Bonus points if you’ve read The Divine Comedy but certainly not required ;)

Getting There

By Air

The most convenient airports are: 1. Verona Villafranca (VRN): ~20 minutes from the venue 2. Venice Marco Polo (VCE): ~1.5 from the venue 3. Milan Bergamo (BGY): ~1.5 hours from the venue 4. Milan Malpensa or Milan Linate (MXP or LIN): ~2 hours from the venue Verona is well-connected by train and car from all major Italian cities, so there are several options depending on your travel plans.

By Train

Verona Porta Nuova is the city’s main train station, with frequent connections to Milan, Venice, Florence, and Bologna. From the station, the venue and the surrounding Valpolicella region is around a 20-minute drive.

By Car

If you’d like the flexibility to explore the region, renting a car is a great option. The drive through Valpolicella is peaceful and full of vineyard views, small villages, and winding country roads. Parking will be available at the venue.

Accommodations

Below are a few accommodation options near the venue. We haven’t reserved a hotel block, but these local stays are all within walking distance of our venue. There are also many hotels and apartments in Verona, roughly 25 minutes away by car. We won’t be arranging transportation to the venue, so guests staying in Verona should plan accordingly. Taxi services are available using the local taxi service, Radio Taxi Verona.

Things to Do

We know many of you are traveling a long way, so we’ve gathered some ideas for how to make the most of your time in and around Verona if you choose to extend your stay.

In and Around Verona

The Historic CenterVerona’s old city is mostly pedestrian streets and best experienced on foot. Join a walking tour or take your time wandering the ancient streets, small piazzas, and quiet corners. If you’re interested in the city’s literary side, you’ll find the places tied to Romeo and Juliet throughout the city — the courtyard, the balcony, and the popular statue. Tradition says giving her bosom a quick pat brings luck in love. We can’t speak for everyone, but one of us tried it years ago… and here we are ;) Arena di VeronaA first-century Roman amphitheater that still hosts concerts and opera. If your travel dates line up, it’s well worth seeing an evening performance. Castel San Pietro ViewpointA short climb takes you to panoramic views of the city and the Adige River. We highly recommend you go just before sunset. Aperitivo &amp; Wine BarsLocals take aperitivo seriously, and it’s one of the nicest ways to ease into the evening. A few of our favorites: - Osteria del Bugiardo for a relaxed glass of Valpolicella and small plates. - Osteria La Mandorla for a tiny, atmospheric stop tucked on a side street. Standing room only. - La Tradision for a wide variety of spritzes or drinks before dinner.

Valpolicella & Wine Country

The Valpolicella region surrounds the wedding venue and is home to some of Italy’s best red wines: Amarone, Ripasso, and Recioto among them. The hills are full of small producers and family-run wineries that welcome visitors for tastings and tours.

Day Trips

Lake GardaAbout 40 minutes drive west, the lake is perfect for a relaxed day. Go for swim, take a boat, or sit by the water along one of the beautiful surrounding villages. VeniceIf you’ve never been, this is your sign to go. The train from Verona takes about 90 minutes. Go early, wander, and leave before the crowds do. Soave &amp; LessiniaEast of Verona, Soave offers quiet vineyards and a hilltop castle; Lessinia Natural Park to the north has mountain views and peaceful walks.

A Few Notes

TimingRestaurants often close between lunch and dinner. Evening service usually reopens around 7-7:30. ReservationsDinner spots in Verona fill up, especially on weekends. Booking ahead is a good idea, even for casual places. PaymentsCards are widely accepted, but some smaller cafés, bakeries, and countryside spots prefer cash. WaterPublic fountains around the city provide clean drinking water — locals refill bottles throughout the day. Dress for SeptemberDays are warm, evenings can cool off quickly. A light layer is helpful for walking around at night or sitting outside, but definitely double-check closer to your trip as weather can be unpredictable. Sundays &amp; MondaysSome restaurants and shops close on Sundays or Monday. Worth double-checking hours before making plans. ParkingIf you’re renting a car, note that much of Verona’s historic center is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL). Your GPS won’t always warn you. Parking garages at the edge of the center are the safest bet.

Come arrivare

In aereo: Gli aeroporti più comodi sono Verona Villafranca (circa 20 minuti dalla location), Venezia o Bergamo (circa un’ora e mezza) e Milano (circa 2 ore). In treno: La stazione principale è Verona Porta Nuova, da cui la location si raggiunge in circa 20 minuti di auto. In auto: Se desiderate muovervi liberamente e godervi la zona, l’auto è la scelta ideale. La tenuta dispone di parcheggio per gli ospiti. Nota: non è previsto un servizio di trasporto il giorno del matrimonio; quindi, vi consigliamo di organizzare spostamenti e alloggi di conseguenza.

Dove dormire

Per chi desidera stare vicino alla tenuta, ci sono B&amp;B e piccole strutture a pochi passi dalla location.
